LIBERTY HILL, Texas – The Liberty Hill ISD Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the hiring of Justin Carrigan as the district athletic director. In this position, Justin will be responsible for all of the sporting programs districtwide.

Before joining LHISD, Justin was the deputy director of athletics at UT Permian Basin where he helped lead the successful operation of the business, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning departments as well as overseeing facilities and event operations, with direct oversight over athletic training and strength and conditioning. Prior to that he served as the first head coach for seven seasons, making UT Permian Basin Football history. In Justin's final season, the football team had 10 players honored by the Lone Star Conference after the season; the most in program history.

In addition, Justin came to UTPB having spent five seasons as an assistant at Tarleton, the last three as offensive coordinator where they won a Lone Star Conference Championship in 2013. Prior to his five-year stint at TSU, he spent a year at the University of Texas-El Paso working with the Miners' passing game. He started his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant in 2005 at Midwestern State as the wide receivers coach. In 2007 he was named the director of strength and conditioning for all eleven NCAA sports at Midwestern State.

Justin graduated with a degree in kinesiology in 2003 from Angelo State. A three-year starter for the football team, he was an All-Conference recipient in 2000 and 2001, and was a team captain in 2002. He later earned his master's degree in sports administration from Midwestern State in 2009.

Justin’s wife, Heather, currently works in real estate, but spends most of her time at their childrens’ school; involved in the PTA and as a room mom. They love competitions, so a lot of their hobbies are sports related. Their daughter, Madalyn, loves all things related to sports, livestock and the outdoors. Their son, Gunner, loves anything competitive and enjoys the outdoors if there’s a ball involved.

“I am incredibly grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve as the director of athletics for Liberty Hill ISD, one of the premier school districts in the state,” said Carrigan. “My family and I are thrilled to join the Liberty Hill family and the community!”
