What information is Consortium given?

  • The student’s name, student ID number, and grade only.

How will students be selected?

  • Consortium will randomly select between 150-200 students from a list provided by the campus.

What staff members will know the results?

  • Negative tests will be shared with the campus principal.
  • Positive tests will be shared with the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s), campus principal, director of activity, head sponsor of activity, and, if necessary, the campus healthcare provider.

What happens if a student refuses to be tested when selected?

  • This action will be considered a positive test result and subject to appropriate consequences.  For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 3: Refusal to Test or Tampering.

Can results be appealed?

  • Yes, results can be appealed.  For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 5: Appeals.

What are the consequences for a positive test result?

For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 4: Consequences.

  • A first offense shall result in a 21 calendar day suspension of any extracurricular activity and usage of your parking permit on campus.
  • A second offense shall result in a 42 calendar day suspension of any extracurricular activity and usage of your parking permit on campus.
  • A third offense shall result in the suspension for the remainder of the school year of any extracurricular activity and usage of your parking permit on campus.

Does the parent or legal guardian have to sign the Mandatory Drug Testing Consent Form?

  • Yes.  School-age individuals will need signatures on school permission documentation.

Will over the counter medication produce a positive test result?

  • Over the counter medications are not being tested for in the urine test.  For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 3: Substances for Which Tests Are Conducted.

What if my student is on a prescription medication, such as an opiod pain prescription, that causes a positive test result?

  • The parent or legal guardian will have 5 days to submit documentation to the campus principal for such medications.  For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 4: Confirmation of Positive Results.

If the Mandatory Drug Testing Consent Form is not signed, can the student participate in extracurricular activities or utilize their parking permit on campus?
